Bioworld DNase I (Bovine Pancreas), 50 KU
DNase I DNase I is an endonuclease derived from bovine pancreas that will degrade double-stranded DNA in the presence of divalent cations, producing 3'-OH oligonucleotides. Mg+2 in the reaction solution causes the enzyme to produce nicks in double-stranded DNA, while in the presence on Mn+2, DNase I cleaves both strands of the DNA. DNase I is useful in nick translation for introducing single-stranded nicks that serve as primer sites for initiation of DNA synthesis and for cloning random DNA fragments by cleaving double-stranded DNA. It is also used in purifying RNA from cells or transcription mixtures. Triacsin C is a potent inhibitor of long chain acyl-CoA synthetase, with an IC50 value of 6.3 μM in Raji cell membrane fraction. Long chain acyl-CoA synthetase is essential for catalyzing the conversion of free fatty acids to acyl-CoAs. Inhibition of acyl-CoA synthetase has been shown to interfere lipid synthesis as well as cell proliferation in Raji lymphoma cells. Triacsin C also induces apoptosis in many cancer cell lines, such as human lung cancer cells. In addition, Triacsin C has been found to be highly effective against rotavirus replication.
